Pedestrian Bridge Overpass...

After 30 years in business, this is the first project we have completed on this level....we were our own supplier, designers, manufacturer and our own crews installed all of the products. We did not outsource any of the work or products on this project. The amount of teamwork that our foremen and their crews exhibited was nothing short of phenomenal.

Chris Lawson and Billy Nelson were the 2 foreman who were given this project to complete. The project was completed in approximately two months, consuming nearly 300 pounds of welding rods. The total contract value approached $ 250,000.

The project was among the first of it's type; an overpass designed in compliance with ADA requirements. The purpose for the project was to prevent children from crossing the railroad at this busy crossing. Several children have been killed by trains on their way to a nearby school.

The project consisted of 740' of ramp fence with handrail, 645' of enclosed fence using bent "hoops" with handrail, 150' of fence with handrail on the stairs and an additional 660' of eight-foot high chain link fence along the railroad tracks.

The entire framework is made of 2-7/8" o.d. galvanized schedule 40 pipe. The "hoops" were formed on a die developed by Memphis Fence Company, Inc. President Daniel Turbeville. The cost of the die was about $ 80.00, falling far short of the $ 50,000 cost of a bender. We were able to produce on average 23 hoops per hour using the less expensive method.
